Vaping Shouldn’t Be Fun
Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal has introduced legislation in New York aimed at banning the sale of "entertainment vapor products," which she believes target youth by combining vaping with gaming features. Recent vaping devices have begun including digital screens and built-in video games, raising concerns from researchers at the University of California, Riverside about their potential to increase nicotine addiction among young users. They argue that these devices could attract a new generation of users who might not have been interested in vaping otherwise. Rosenthal argues that the state should move quickly to prohibit these products, especially as recent federal statistics show a drop in high school vaping rates, which now sit below 6%. The decline is attributed to heightened age restrictions and enforcement actions against retailers and manufacturers. The FDA and health officials believe further regulation is necessary to continue protecting youth from new vaping trends.

Social Host Law
Social host liability refers to the legal responsibility of individuals who provide alcohol at social gatherings, particularly regarding injuries or damages caused by intoxicated or underage guests. New York's Social Host Liability Law specifically holds hosts accountable for serving alcohol to those under 21, aiming to deter underage drinking.
Common cases involve minors causing injury to third parties, potentially leading to lawsuits against both the host and the minor. Hosts can be held legally responsible if they knowingly provide alcohol to minors or permit them to drink on their premises. If a minor causes harm after consuming alcohol at your home or event, YOU could face liability for damages.
