Striving to overcome the challenges posed by drug and alcohol use, ITAC—short for “It Takes a Community”—stands as a vital force for positive change and support. Founded in 2009 by concerned residents of Elma, Marilla, and Wales in response to tragic youth suicides and overdoses, ITAC operates as a united coalition encompassing 12 community sectors and 4 townships. Committed to enhancing the well-being of our youth, ITAC works to increase awareness about substance use, improve communication among parents, youth, educators, and residents, and utilize data-driven strategies to prevent substance abuse.
In line with our mission to support and uplift local students, ITAC is proud to announce the availability of TWO scholarships, each valued at $250, for graduating seniors of Iroquois High School in 2025. This opportunity is designed to assist graduates as they embark on their journey to higher education while fostering our vision of preventing substance use and educating the community about available resources and interventions.

Congratulations to Grace and Connor, the proud recipients of the 2025 ITAC Scholarship!
As part of the application, applicants were asked to share how youth ambassadors can serve as change makers—encouraging others to support our mission and vision—and to describe their first “action item” for creating positive change. Grace and Connor's responses reflected a deep understanding of the importance of community involvement and a commitment to making a difference. They have also been involved with ITAC for many years in different roles, and it has been inspiring to watch them grow as leaders and advocates for our community’s well-being. We wish them both the best as they step into an exciting new chapter of college and feel confident they will be successful in their future endeavors.
ITAC would also like to recognize and congratulate the 27 senior youth ambassadors who have served our organization during their time at Iroquois. These students volunteered at events, participated in meetings, and actively helped promote our mission to prevent youth substance use by empowering our community with conversations, education, and access to support. Thank you for your service!
Thank you to ITAC Board president Bette for attending the awards ceremony and presenting our youth with their certificates and scholarships. Thank you to Renea Lauck who took these photos.
